This summer has been an adoption-focused time for us! Not only did we sign up with another law office earlier in the summer but we recently signed up with Christian Adoption Consultants (CAC).

Our current Home Study is in the process of being updated and will last for one more year after the update. Chris and I have decided that this is our last Home Study so if we are not matched in the next year, we will not seek to grow our family further. In the meantime, we are doing all we can do in our power to adopt again! The update requires additional paperwork and appointments so we have been steadily chipping away at those tasks over the last few weeks in addition to our other projects.

The consultant we were assigned at CAC is amazing. We’ve been with them for two weeks and already we are so impressed! They have provided us with a list of grants to apply for, adjustments to make to our profile for expectant moms to view, and additional agencies to connect with. Our consultant is so helpful with our questions. We wish we would have known about them last year when we began the waiting process to adopt again but we are thankful that we are with them now. I know that some of you may be interested in adoption and, so far, we highly recommend CAC!

One important task is re-designing our profile book. We had a book created before we adopted Alina and although our online is profile is updated, most agencies want a printed book to give to expectant moms to review. We were advised to create a magazine size and style book that gives details and photos about our life. It is coming together and I think it looks really good! We are scheduled to get new family photos soon that I hope will be the finishing touch!

As we wait for the right situation to come along, we are also considering how we will fund an adoption. We are applying for lots of adoption grants to help with the costs but none of them are guaranteed. We expect to need about $50,000 more than we currently have saved. It is an expensive venture but God has always provided for all of our financial needs in the past in miraculous ways so we are confident that He will provide what we need when we need it to bring the right child home.

In an unexpected way, writing our profile book and being so focused on adoption tasks has also encouraged us to more deeply cherish the little girl that God has already brought into our lives. She is healthy, happy and beautiful! She is the perfect child for our family and even though we are praying that God would bring us the perfect-for-us baby #2, we are so grateful for our baby #1.
